Thing I can't believe I have said...

...while doing morning sun salutation yoga session:

Stop blowing on that dead bug.
Don't kick your brother.
Stop touching my phone.
Finger out of your nose.

Can you say Ohmmmmm!

A age 6: "Yay ice beans!" = snow peas.

As I am writing this I am listening to Kev explain to our child why it is important he learn to wipe his own bum and the weirdest part is the child is building his argument for his father wiping his bum forever.
He has now hollered "Daddy can you come look to see if my bum is clean!"

G age 3:"mommy look this color is pretty impressive!"
love the new words!

A age 6:"Is the bee dead?"
Me:"yes"
A:"AWWWWWW, actually that's ok it's on the way around the circle."
(circle of life)

G age 3 11/12: to Daddy "lets play rock, paper, scissors. You pick paper, I pick scissors!"

Blogging our days...

I just thought,I wish I could read tea leaves.
then I thought,huh?
and then I realized this cold must be effecting my brain!
Then I drank a pot of ginger tea and thought,it's gonna be okay
then my nose ran down my face (you know what I mean...gross...sad...true)
so does anyone know how to read tea leaves?
sigh!

Blogging our days...

It is a rare event that my children sleep through the night even at 6 and just about 4 years of age. So needless to say I am always grateful to wake post 6 AM and find they have not yet awoken. This morning was one such morn' all except, at about the same time Kev's work alarm went off at 6-ish the cat also decided to vomit all over the foot of our bed and carpet surrounding. Ahh and reality sets back in!

sad but true

(6:18 AM) this morning...
thump, thump, thump...(up the stairs)
A: I won!!!
G: No, I won!!!
G: I'm the smartest!!!
A: No, I'm the smartest!!!

All I wanted to do was holler "No I'm the smartest, tallest and fastest, ha, ha, ha!!!"
Sometimes my kids bring out the best in me, sigh, tear* (On top of that I'm only the tallest!)

Oh if it helps anyone understand my frustration beyond the time of day I had also discovered they had upturned a bed mattress in A's room laid it sideways on/off the bed to create some kind of fort, ripped a fitted sheet in almost 2 and G had already lodged himself head first under the bed!?

I think I did well to only respond with seriously folks!

Blogging our days...

Sooo I hate to admit this but, I have taken to yelling things like 'look a dragon!', 'oh my there's a dinosaur eating my foot!' and 'by golly an Alligator!' to get my kids to notice and hopefully listen to me.
My question is...is this too far?
Sadly I think so.
Is it 7pm yet?

disgusting show of parental pride over brotherly love.

So my three year old wrote a poem at school for his brother, here it is...

If he reads it to you it says the same crazy cuteness every single time. Here it is...

A____. A____.
I wish I may,
I wish I might,
I can see you tonight.

He read it to him when he got home from school A. responded with "but you see me every night?"
G replied "I know it's fun."

I promise to return to embarrassing entertaining-ish post tomorrow for tonight I just want to bask in the glow of brotherly love.

Blogging our days..., from the mouths of crazy lovely monkeys...

So a couple of days ago at the park during a play date with some little friends during what I can only describe as extreme hugging (a weird type of affectionate wrestling that can often look similar to a front full nelson) a boy toppled G to the ground and rolled over him. He emerged slightly disgruntled, in tears, hollering and gesturing at the unsuspecting slightly older child. Due to his slightly older age of 7 I believe he was quite taken aback when he met with this...

I title this "YOU HURT MY SPLINTER!!!" in honor of our special park visit.

Blogging our days...

Did anyone else have to offer to let their children wash their toes this morning so they could have a hot bath and wash their hair...also can anyone tell me why my kids would even agree to that or find it so entertaining?
In case anyone is wondering how that all turned out they both ended up banished from the bathroom when due to a very fun field trip to the dairy farm this week the conversation turned to my ability or lack there of to make milk, then a very disturbing description of my chest area. I appreciated G's initial description "Mommy you have huge breasts!" (though it would be easily disputed) until he followed that up with "and I have a huge bebo!" (belly button thanks Sandra Boynton and the Belly Button Book) Since he has a iny I will assume we need to discuss the meaning of huge. I think we will wait for another time, sigh.

G & A returns from upstairs adventure.
G age almost 4: "is the princess alive again?"
A age 6: totally embarrassed cheeks flush pink all the way to his ears peeks over hooded eyes at me (of course I'm pretending not to notice) he answers "No!" G replies proudly "I kissed the princess upstairs!"
I just hope that cat isn't the princess or the dragon they just slayed for that matter. poor cat!

mommy speaks...

Ok so I did it, I not only closed to the bathroom door to have a shower, I locked it! For the first time in 6 years I have managed 8 minutes of privacy during my childrens waking hours. Just enough time to jump in scrub down the mummy tummy sanitize the hair, face, body and return before the threat of chaos begins. In that 8 minute I would like to point out I did not listen for crying, vomiting, screaming or arguing. I did not hear Mommy where are you? Mommy what are you doing? Mommy I want a...? need a? and my favorite, watch this! so to sum things up I have step forward in the world instead of the usual ~change underthings ~add pit stick ~brush teeth and hope for the best, I ~had a shower (plus the above mentioned items) am wearing, oh yes, powder and mascara and am sporting relatively clean pants. I am woman hear me roar!

Monkey buisness!

So I have been having a computer war with the Christmas pageant videos since my camera surpasses the abilities of my computer. If I should manage to upload them somewhere I will be sure to re-post and let any of you Grandparent etc...who may be interested in the light entertainment that double as family embarrassment know.
for now here is G's response to applause 'Broadway here he comes!!!'

Monkey buisness!

So inevitably every blogger must reach a point when they ask themselves the question... to share or not to share this moment? Will this embarrass my children or myself long term? and the answer this time is YES, but still I feel driven to add this to our little log of embarrassments and inner thoughts because well that is I guess how I roll!

The other morning awoken by hysterical laughter coming from the boys bedroom Kevin wandered down the hall to investigate the goings on to find them both up on the top bunk hovered above an etch-a-sketch drawing, G. nearly hyperventilating from belly laughs and A. holding his artistic work proudly for his father to see.

I know you're waiting...

wait...

wait....

and here it is...

G age 3: exclaims through near tears "It has breasts!!!"

A age 5: promptly says "It's Mommy!" while attempting to hold back the grails of laughter begging to be released.

Kevin with great difficulty gave the proper fatherly explanation that this is inappropriate but I am amazed he made it through the discussion without bursting.

I myself, if asked honestly, am maybe not as offended as I should be and am actually quite relieved that he drew them no where near their actual location which is closer to my knees!

side note*
In case anyone is feeling a little concerned I thought I would share that most of the artwork resembles this theme and/or many more normal images cars, dogs, planes and things of that nature. Actually on second glance maybe we should be concerned because I am unsure as to what one would need a helmet for when using and etch-a-sketch(!)

update post...

I am amazed how long it has been since I completed a post here aside from the entertaining ramblings of my little boys and their merriment or lack there of or these update-ish type post. It is not really for the lack of beginnings but any attempt or desire to polished or even complete with relatively accurate spelling and/or grammar has kept my thoughts from landing in the published posts department.

The boys are in general good health aside from a small case of sniffles they continue to try and overthrow the management in our home.

Kevin is still enjoying his work with all its perks and stresses, he and his classmates are in the throws of planning their check out party that involves the entire group of controllers and the staff at the ACC. It should be an interesting evening. I am looking forward to putting faces to the names and operating initials I have been hearing about for ages now.

Kev and I were blessed to have a couple of evenings to ourselves and so enjoyed an amazing restaurant suggested by many family and friends Cielo's(link below) it was an amazing tapas meal and the service and ambiance were impeccable. Thank you to our lovely friends Andrea and Bernadine who manned the young'uns while we escaped.
During a quick jaunt into the city to stroll on our old neighborhood and visit friends and establishments much missed especially during this rising holiday season we enjoyed for the first time a restaurant called Burgoo bistro (link below) they boast fantastic comfort food and should, it was a relaxed and hot savory meal. I only suggest if you are planning on gracing their patio in November (this was not our initial or expected intention) be sure to wear warm footwear the heat lamps and blankets don't quite do the trick for the toes. We then enjoyed birthday festivities at the beautiful home of Uncle John and Aunt Liz, it was a great night filled with laughter and easy conversation. I left feeling warm and fuzzy and looking forward to our next meeting.
As for myself, aside from the parenting and keeping us all in relative cleanliness (I use the term cleanliness freely it appears) I have put some of my energy into bikrams hot yoga and can say with pride I have stopped pretending to pass out during warrior pose, a great feat in my world. I also continue my journey in the world of Photoshop and have been able to put aside my labor breathing to keep from harming the machine and program at hand more frequently than before the Vancouver Photo Workshops class (link below)
anyways I will return to our usual black book entries and stop rambling on.

middle of the night...
G age 3.5:"do you have a heart?"
me: "yes"
G:"I don't have a heart"
Me: "yes you do it is right here" point at left side of his chest.
G: "does A. have a heart?"
Me:"yes"
G: "you?"
Me: wanting to go back to sleep "yes"
G: "daddy?"
Me: even more desperately wanting to go back to sleep "yes!"
G: "and we all have taste bugs!" sticks out tongue to display.
Me: can't help but giggle, I know one day I will miss this but right now I would lick caffeine off the floor!

black book entries

Hello, I have found my way back here (ooooh twice in one day, I know are you thinking "she must have medicated the children" ) well no instead the recipe is wake the children at 5 drag them from there warm beds, promptly return them home to their beds then wake them for school rush them home from school, throw food in their direction, drag them to skating and then add a large dose I Grampy and voila extremely tired kids!
I don't have a lot to report since my nibs/coffee morning issues (too lazy to clean the egg pan and make breakfast for myself). The boys have come up with a couple of choice statement I may want to have on had for future torment and as usual I would like to share them with you all.

A age 5 8/12: looking at hockey trophies at the rink under his breath and with a fearful look; "are those all the people who died at skating?".

G age 3 6/12: "hey, you ate your noodles mommy, great eating mommy, your the best eater of all the earth! Crazy mommy!"

Anyways I am sure I am forgetting a few but they will have to wait till later THE BOOK is calling me...

Blogging our days...

So on a few levels today I have succeeded we managed with little resistance to wake the boys at 5am and get Daddy to work on time, then I successful (OK not quite with style or grace but on time at least) I got the offspring to school managed a few errands and am now standing at the island in my kitchen drinking instant coffee (thanks Starbucks for making my addiction that much more convenient) and eating NIBS directly from the bag, anyways here is to hopping your day as well has at least varied levels of success you deem worthy of celebration even if it is with instant Starbucks coffee and NIBS.

Toilet Tenancies

May I preempt this post with an apology for its content. Pre-parenthood I expected more of myself than to become one of those crazies who discuss their offsprings toilet tendencies in public forums but this will be bound to a family book once a year and lets be honest, it would be a shame to forget all this embarrassing material.

G age 3: to my child-free, newly dating, in vacationing honeymoon land friends who are relaxing on my couch enjoying wine and snacks. " I have to poop! It's gonna be this big!" holding his hands above his head about 2 feet apart.

It is funny how different children are about there toilet practices A used to run in and request you stay so close he could see you and be as quick about his business as possible as to get back to whatever antics he had been involved in before nature called. Whereas G has a much different toileting routine as Kevin's Aunt Liz (bless her heart) found out at a lunch visit at the Grandparents home on Monday. The act begins with a very public expression of his needs..."Have to POOP!!!" or pee whatever the case may be.
He then needs to prepare which includes a stool, a child's toilet seat and removing all his clothing. (I do believe in this case he spared her slightly and allowed his sandals to remain on)
to top this act off he then hollers "I need privacy" you may then believe standing on the other side of a mostly closed door would be the best choice for all involved but you will be met with the line "I need it RAZOR closed!" which in essence means you must shut the door till it clicks.

He will follow all of this with a statement of completion from the selection below.
"I did the biggest poop in town!"
"I did 3 poops" this ranges in the number scale and I am oddly pleased to say is relatively accurate.
and my personal favorite because it lacks description, "I finished pooping!!!"

Oh my days are filled with fun!
I could continue with another reel of embarrassing terror toileting tales but I believe this will suffice.

Blogging our days...

We've had a wonderful afternoon shy of a couple of slivers at Jericho beach. It so neat having the field and pond on one side and the beach on the other it is like two outings at once.
We are now enjoying breakfast for dinner made by Dad because this morning we were informed (early) it was opposites day, quite fun actually :)
