G:with hesitation "Ummm mom?"
Me: nervously "yes?"
G: "what do chemicals do to you?"
Me: internal dialog...deep breath, stay calm, external dialog "well that depends, what kind of chemicals do you mean?"
G: "plastic"
Me: alarm creeping in..."did you eat the plastic chemicals?"
Imagining pumped stomach and a night in emerge.
G: "no I just chewed them for a while and them spit them out!"
Me: relieved and now a little grossed out "what did you chew?"
G: "your exercise elastic. See!"
