G on brushing his teeth at bedtime.

G:'why do I have to brush my teeth at bedtime?"
Me:"because we want you to keep your teeth."
G: "but I don't get to keep my teeth they are baby teeth they are going to fall out!"

this is why parents say 'because'

G:"can I have some milk?"
Me:"no you brushed your teeth already if you drink milk now the sugar in the milk will make your teeth fall out."
G: "I want them to fall out then the tooth-fairy will come and bring me money."
Me:'but then you would have no teeth and you couldn't eat yummy food."
G:sounding exasperated with me "Noooo, because thennnn my adult teeth would grow in!"
Me:"but not right away"
G:"ya they will!!!"
Me:"no."
G:"ya they will!!!!!"
Me: sigh!

took me a minute but I found an answer...
Me: "the tooth-fairy doesn't give money for dirty teeth only shiny white one"
G: "oh."
Me: internal parenting happy dance!
