A age 6: after spending the afternoon playing at the park with a group of slightly older kids. He was laying in bed and said:
A:"Mommy?"
Me: "Yes?"
A:"what does I Suck mean?"
I'm sure the neighbors heard my heart break.
After much explaining and discussion turns out it wasn't said to him or someone else but one boy was saying it about himself, again my heart fell as I try to explain using negative thoughts on ourselves doesn't help us move forward, grow or become better. Tomorrow I will also be making a conscious effort to stop berating myself in my head or out loud. Kids can be such great teachers.
